Hi I'm a junior who wants to take multivariable calculus over the summer. I'm thinking about taking it at UCI, but its very expensive. Multivariable Calculus at EPGY and CTY are less expensive, but the courses are online.

Would colleges care about whether I took it at a local university or online? I feel like online courses don't carry as much weight in the admissions process. Yes, I am interested in the subject matter of the course, but I'm also concerned with college admissions, since the cost discrepancy between EPGY/CTY and university courses is high.

Any thoughts or opinions?

Check the universities that you are considering applying to in order to see if the courses you are considering will be accepted for credit so that you will not have to boringly repeat them after entering a university as a freshman.

Another option is to complete the full sophomore level math (multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations) at a community college during the school year. It will be cheap, and without the stigma of an on-line course. But getting into a course at an overcrowded community college may be difficult, and they may not offer the desired courses in the summer.

Unfortunately community college isn’t really option because of schedule conflicts :(. but thanks for the advice!
