Music Composition - No Experience

are there any good Music Compositioncollege programs that do not require a portfolio or audition? (basically like music composition for beginners)

Almost all BA music programs will have beginning composition classes. Have you looked at course offerings at schools which interest you for other reasons?

If places that interest you have a music school, they often have classes for non-majors that can be at beginner level. For example, the Rice composition classes for non-majors are taught by the doctoral students and are excellent.

Colleges don’t need to have a music school to offer beginning composition. A general music major for a BA, as Spirit Manager says, will include theory, music history, ethnomusicology- and composition. I would also add that you do not have to be a music major in order to compose: that is up to you. You can access classes as a non-major and can also study privately. There are many ways to go.

Also editing to add that you can start composing anytime! You do not need a course. Try to take piano and learn theory as well if available in your area.
