Is it even possible to complete a music degree and the pre med requirements within four years? Has anyone done it and would like to give some tips?

I have a friend who is a clarinet major and also on the pre-med track. I am pretty sure that he will graduate on time. He did, however, enter college with a good amount of AP credit. Although it is very possible to be a music major and pre-med, I think you will encounter many obstacles that someone of any other major would not have to deal with. Being a music major is already a challenge on its own. You have to (or are supposed to) practice 5-6 hours a day. You have ensemble rehearsals, private lessons, juries, auditions, a whole list of things just music-related. As you can imagine, adding pre-med requirements will make things very hectic.

Also, there's a difference between wanting music in your life and making it your life. Make sure you know which category you fall into.

thank you! that was very, very helpful.

My D is doing Music Composition minor and Zoology major (for pre-med major). She is planning to take some music classes in a summer. Zoology major is pretty demanding. Most pre-meds at her school have minors and some double major.
