Hello.
I am planning on applying to the arts and science college.
I heard from my friend who has 3rd generation legacy to cornell say that music majors have an “advantage” in admissions.
If I say that I want to be a music major in my supplement, would I have any advantages in acceptance?
Is this true???
Thanks in advance
Technically, all arts and sciences students enter undeclared. It isn’t like the other schools in Cornell where your major really impacts your acceptance.
Do you actually want to be a music major? Or would you just be saying that to get in? There are only about 20 undergraduate music majors at Cornell. Total. The music program is still good, but it’s much more geared toward grad students. If you’re seriously considering music, why not try Ithaca College, which is right up the road.
Are you looking for conservatory type training? Do you want to be a performance major? If so, Cornell does not have a conservatory and you would have to look elsewhere.
