<p>Good work if they can get it, Irishmomof2. Around here, the paid church jobs tend to be taken by professional musicians looking for any source of income that they can find. The jobs that pay more than a pittance attract singers with fully matured voices who are a good bit older and more experienced than college students. Also, most churches want people who will commit to singing on major holidays when school may not be in session and students want to be at home or somewhere where they can party. Maybe things are different in college towns, but I regularly substitute for pros at several churches in the NYC suburbs and do not see a lot of college-age students in these jobs.</p>
