Music Supplement Advice Needed for Jazz Submission (Non-Music Major)

I play the Jazz Piano and would like to submit a recorded piece to various school as part of my application (I wouldn't be a music major, but I intend to play in university groups regardless). Many colleges stipulate that submissions be a solo piece, not an ensemble piece. However, as a jazz piano player, my strength lies in both accompanying and soloing over background changes. I have selected a piece that would strongly feature piano (Dave Brubeck's Blue Rondo a la Turk) but it's still technically an ensemble piece. Should I contact admissions? Should I submit it anyway? Is it too risky to even submit?

Side note: Music was a somewhat strong part of my application, especially my activities section.

If you can play that piece well, I don’t think you need to worry. I would definitely submit it!

Thanks. My only concern is that some schools encourage one not to apply if they are not strong enough as a contender, as a poor supplement can hurt chances. I’m not worried so much about this, but I am worried that they will view this as a poor supplement from deviating from guidelines. Anyone have experience with this, jazz players or otherwise?
