Great idea and suggestion above from @gram22 and I think we can make this simple for future years auditioning musicians and families.
Let’s capture a simple list of cities where our kids tend to audition and repair / setup contacts which you have used in the past with good experiences. I will start it with what I know and if you can post in the body of this thread we can collate periodically and make it a go to thread for any one in need of such services.
Let’s keep this civilized. Please only post about service providers you know directly and have had good experiences with. If someone posts about a service provider who has made you unhappy one way or another let’s not have such matters aired in public as we need to be careful not to impact hard earned reputations. You can PM the person suggesting a name and discuss privately if you feel strongly about it and we can strike the name from the list without any specifics needing to be discussed openly if both parties agree. Hope this makes sense.
Finally, CC admins, please feel free to delete this thread if it violates CC constitution in any way. Not sure if references to commercial entities might trigger any alarms with our forum owners etc.
Dennis Roy - http://droysbassment.com/ - He is a BSO player himself and personally maintains most BSO players basses. Workshop 40 mins out of Boston and you will need to check in with him for his availability / need appointment.
Johnson Strings - https://www.johnsonstring.com/ - A major supplier of anything and everything for string instruments in the Boston area including rentals. Luthiers are present onsite most days of the week but best is to call ahead of time to verify availability.
Sure thing. Very understandable. @Music2023 and anyone else who may be so inclined please feel free to send me PM with your recommendation / location and I can add it to the list anonymously along the way. When you’re ready.
