Don't be another marketing or psychology major. So many females major in those two. Take as many Math, Computer Science and science courses as you can. They make you more marketable and show you can do more Complex stuff.

I dunno if your advice is gender-specific since you mentioned women but I’d disagree about Psychology, it’s difficult to get into but it’s a rewarding field, it’s a lot of fun

I think all Freshman should Choose to Octuple Major in marketing, psychology, Math, Computer Science, and a Decent Selection of 4 Science Majors in order to Prove that they are Well-Rounded and Adept at Living in our Modern Society.

This is a ridiculous post. Knowing how to do “complex stuff” can mean little in comparison to someone who is able to write and communicate at a higher level. You see it all the time when people are applying for jobs. Ex. At the place I am interning (a web content management software company) they hired an English major to become the product specialist who is working with clients. She was knowledgable to some degree about the software, but she got the job over all the computer science majors who applied because she was capable of communicating at a higher degree. Society needs all of these majors to function. I just think it is kind of rude to be posting another one of these threads.

This is certainly one of the more stupid (and random) posts on CC.

My advice to all freshman: don’t pick a major solely based on how marketable it is. I tried to do that twice and I wasted two years of college doing stuff I didn’t like.

Also, get work experience during college and try to get research positions and internships. That will do a heck of a lot more for you than just choosing a “marketable” major.

The sound of people running out and changing their majors to something you approve of is deafening.

Seriously, it’s confusing enough to be an entering freshman without having people telling you not to major in what you want because then you won’t be marketable.

“Marketing is not marketable”…is that ironic? Haha

Whistleblower1 is a ■■■■■. It’s clear if you look at past posts.

Just ignore him.

Whistle is my hero.

I actually agree, psychology is becoming wayy to popular because psychologists keep labelling “mental disorders” on others and now everyone is in a panic.

For a second I thought Plattsburgh was back but then I realized that this was necro’d.

I really thought I was going to get addicted to CC again. But no. Whistle is not back, so neither am I :(

Whisteblower, I never get tired of you and your endless STEM ■■■■■■■■. :)
