I was thinking of putting down Freddie Mercury from Queen BUT that has nothing to do with what I want to be which is a surgeon.--but doesn't this show I actually have a personality and that I do other things besides study?

My other role models that I'm considering putting on my app are Benjamin Franklin/ Albert Einstein...but then everyone uses them.

Or I could put my grandfather as my role model--which I think is more personal.

I have a question to add to this sort of topic.

Is it okay to have a fictional character as a role model (say my role model is Barney or something) to answer that question (if it were to be one my interwerer/essay giver outer person asked)?

^ He's an obnoxious retard. I rate Homer Simpson as a better father and husband... seriously.

Don't match your interests with your major... it doesn't help and its obviously not true. Your grandfather is nice, but only if there is a real reason why...

I was going to pick my grandfather because he's a lot like me: quiet, doesn't like to be the center of attention, is very wise etc--I have real reasons.

I don't think you're going to find a lot of people picking Freddy Mercury, if you have an interesting legitimate reason for choosing him as a role model, that could be a great essay.
