My Chance at UNC - Chapel Hill

<p>Hey all. I want an honest opinion on my chances at UNC - Chapel Hill.</p>

<p>Heres my stats:</p>

<p>Black Male ( In-state)</p>

<p>3.8 gpa weighted, 3.3 unweighted</p>

<p>Class rank : 75 - 312 (Top 25%)
1850 SAT (640 verbal, 640 math, 570 writing)</p>

<p>The only AP im taking is psychology.</p>

<p>ECS
Basketball (9th)
DECA - President (11th, 12th)
FBLA - Member (11th, 12th)
Who's Who in High School (yea it doesnt matter)
Ventures Scholar
National Society of High School Scholars
National Honor Roll</p>

<p>I think I may have a few hooks also. UNC mailed me some crap all the way back in 8th grade. I was invited to Project Uplift (some minority recruitment crap). I was a Carolina Target (some more minority recruitment crap at our school). And the biggest thing I think is that I was one of a select few invited to "A Special Evening with Chapel-Hill" It was pretty much people from the school talking to some of the most talented (in my opinion) students from surrounding schools in our county. There were only like 30 people there.</p>

<p>out of state you're rejected, but I don't know in-state stats (you're probably in)</p>

<p>Look at the county quota UNC has for your county and see how you measure up to others applying in your county. For in-state students they make sure they get good representation from all counties, so if you are near the top of your county applying, you have an excellent shot. If not, it's a little trickier to assess.</p>

<p>At my school a URM got in with a 4.1 weighted and a 1100 on the SAT so...</p>

<p>I think you've got a legit shot. You're in-state, and you're a minority. I'd say a 60%-70% chance, but apply to other places as well.</p>

<p>I'd say you have a good chance. UNC isn't going to waste their time with "minority recruitment crap" if they're not interested. </p>
