My chances at Columbia University

lol, ok, that was the weirdest comment ever. There is a difference between helping and being stupid. BTW, I did not send this in.

hey John, check some chance threads on this forum, as well as the early decision result thread, compare yourself to them in terms of extraccuriculars and test scores. Also, take not in that they did not include trivial stuff as you did. Do you honestly think your typing speed and your perfect attendance makes you stand out?
Since your hard figures aren't that strong, I recommend you to work hard on your essay, or Columbia might be very unlikely.
Where else are you applying?

If that is the case, then how does Columbia break down its selections.

LMAO

johnny, just with your “shoot the messenger” attitude you would get rejected. Great gpa, but with that attitude I guarantee you will get rejected.

Sorry to be the harbinger of bad news…

LOOK AT THE DATE HE POSTED, you are only 2 years late ;)

This is a great thread.

I’m not sure. They’re weird in terms of what impresses them.
You can’t just have grades - you have a good knowledge of the world, staying up-to-date with the news. But you also need to be a scholar just because you LIKE to learn - the supplement asks what your favorite movies are, along with books you read outside of English class.
Not only that, but they look for specific awards you might not have. They don’t care about those little things you have on your resume like “perfect attendance.”
I’d say it’s a reach, but it’s a reach for anyone.
