Hi I am international applicant applying to Yale under Early Action. I have completed my 12th grade and have several EC’s under my belt. Yale is my first choice college and I want to know if I have a shot at getting in. If I don’t, I want to be mentally prepared for it so I can peacefully continue my other applications.
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Asian
High School: Very demanding core curriculum focused subject based in-depth learning. I took all the difficult subjects for my majors with intensive programs in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and English. In our system of education you are allowed to select five courses with rigorous course schedule and give the National Exam at the end of your 12th grade.
I achieved a merit award for a 95% in my 10th grade boards that put me on top of the list for selections into a junior college (9th and 10th are conducted separately from 11th and 12th because of major course difference). In my 10th I studied 9 major subjects, namely: Science (PCB), Social Science (History, Geography and Civics), English (Shakespearean literature inclusive), Native language, Computer Application (Programming in JAVA) and Mathematics with A’s in all. I made it into the top 5% of my class and also received an All rounder trophy for my achievements in Academics and Athletics.
I scored a 1330/1600 in my first SAT attempt after a 3 week prep and scored a 20/24 in my Essay.
In my 12th grade, I secured A’s in English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry - my core subjects and a high B in Math - my elective.
Top 5% in class.
EC’s: Debate club captain, vice captain at school during 10th grade. Active member of student govt, State level Badminton and Basketball player, I have trained in classical Indian music since I was a child (quit in 11th grade because of academic pressure), I have debated at National platform, member of a Youth Parliament. Quiz competitions, qualified for Regionals at Spell Bee, participated in International Peer Educator Summit (Finals) and secured 15th position out of 220 participating schools ( team of 4, I was the leader), hosted several competitions because of my good speaking skills and was also the representative of the Arts and Dramatics dept at my senior school. I also helped in writing a production about ‘Girl Child and Infanticide.’

I have volunteered at several orphanages and old age homes as well.
As an international school, we don’t have a lot of different opportunities to do EC’s but I managed to keep my record clear as much as I can. I scored a 3rd rank in my class in my 9th grade when I was undergoing rigorous training for District level Badminton tournament. (I have added all these in my SOP).
I would really like to know from someone who has an in-depth knowledge about application evaluation about my odds at being admitted. My decided major is Bioengineering.
Thank you.
