Hey y’all,
I was wondering if any one has insight as to what my chances are of getting into a top MPA program? I am looking into schools such as UC Berkeley, University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill), American University, Columbia, etc.
I am a rising senior at the University of Oregon and I am studying Political Science. I have a cumulative GPA of 3.95, and my Poli Sci GPA is 3.93. I have self-authored and self-published my own book titled “Politics and the Global Impact of Inequality and Sexism.” It is 200+ pages. I have also interned at the Ronald Reagan Institute in Washington DC. At the same time, I have interned with a group known as the Millennial Action Project as a policy intern, and contributed as a co-author to a national report we worked on. I will be interning this summer in DC with the Open Markets Institute, further diversifying my policy research abilities and experience. I have been in UO’s student government for two years as well. I also was Vice Chair of the Student Board for my university’s counseling center and a member for the group. I also created an online mental health forum utilized by my university’s student government and I will be continuing these projects going into my senior year. I was also an Elections Board commissioner for my student government.
Would y’all think I am competitive for those top MPA schools listed above? I am concerned that my youth may be a blemish on my resume, but I definitely feel like I have lots of research ability within policy because of published work I have been able to do.
Thank you all so much for your help!!
