Hello, I'm seventeen years old and a junior in high school. After continuously reviewing this website, I've decided to post on my own to get a real, personalized opinion.
The story:
I didn't give a damn about school in 9th and 10th grade. I did have all honors classes and one AP each year, but my grades were only average/below average.
Freshman year:
Geometry Honors
(had bad grades, even failed one semester, but retook that online and passed with a 98.9%)
English 1 Honors
(good grades -- A's or B's)
AP Biology
(wasn't supposed to be in this, screw up on my school's part, still didn't give a crap, never studied, somehow passed with a few C's and a D -- got a 1 on the exam, lol)
World History Honors
(did okay, like A's or B's I guess)

Estimated GPA: 3.0

Sophomore year:
Algebra 2
(Did okay, A's B's C's something like that)
English 2 Honors
(Still couldn't take AP yet, English was my best, A's maybe a B)
Chemistry 1 Honors
(Loved it, A's or B's)
AP American History
(Eh C's D's, got a 2 on the exam lol, still never studied but better than last time)

Estimated GPA: 3.0-3.5

Basically, my grades were terrible the past two years of school. I wasn't stupid necessarily, at least not academically. I always won awards in elementary school, always had advanced classes in middle school, always had honors and AP even if I never did the work etc. etc... I was stupid more so in the fact of thinking "My high school grades won't ever matter lalala lets play video games etc." I also had a very hard time with depression in 9th and 10th grade and that also contributed to me not doing anything in school. Somewhere in between the summer of 10th and 11th grade, I decided I wanted to pursue a medical career. I realized that if I wanted to get into college AT ALL, I needed to seriously put effort into my classwork.
So this year:
AP English and Composition
(A, good class for me, should pass AP exam)
Advanced Algebra with Financial App
(A, I know it's a wimpy math class, but I was afraid of taking functions or stats because I have never been able to understand math too well)
Anatomy and Physiology Hon
(A's-B's, there was no AP for this, wanted to take AP Chemistry but the administration at my school screwed up the block scheduling for that; that's another story...)
AP World History
(A, easy, should pass AP exam)

Last report card I got a 4.1 GPA. This report card coming up I plan on doing better, which should give me anywhere between a 4.3-4.4 GPA. I think my overall high school GPA then should be somewhere around a 3.5..?

Senior year I plan on taking:
AP English Literature
AP Statistics
Dual-enrolled at community college with either Biology, Chemistry, or A&P, haven't decided (no better science classes available at HS)
AP Government
I also plan on trying my best to maintain a 4.0+.

By graduation, the electives I will have, mostly with A's:
Spanish 1-3 (done)
Chinese 1-3 (taking them online, I'm a language nut, lol -- in progress)
Digital Design 1 and 2 (done)
Two business/computer classes (done)
Psych 1, 2, and AP Psych (AP in 12th)
An art class, nutrition class, finished PE reqs (done)
Biomed (12th)
Child development (12th)

Okay so that's all said. As for me, I have little to no volunteer experience, limited club experience (I was in Anime Club a little bit in 9th grade but left because the people were weird, and then Key Club for like a few weeks, left because they never did anything). Basically I don't have a lot of friends and don't get involved in many school activities... I think this in addition to my horrible 9th and 10th grades are hurting my chances. However, I am currently in SDD, which means I should graduate with a "Superintendent's Diploma of Distinction". Whatever that means. Some kind of honors thing... Which apparently looks good. However, if I can continue to study and keep my grades above a 4.0 for the rest of this year and next year, my cumulative GPA should get better. I should have pretty good recommendation letters from my AP teachers and guidance counselors. I have not taken the SAT or ACT yet but I plan on doing so by the end of my junior year; I'm a pretty good test taker and plan to do fairly well. I have recently decided that I want to go to UF to pursue a BA in English. I want to do my best in the program and hopefully get accepted to their BA/MD program or finish my BA and apply for medical school after. I will do my English degree and take the pre-req's for medical school during that time as well. I want to become a pediatrician. I know my careless attitude for school in the past is hurting me but I am hoping that a college could appreciate the fact that I woke up and am doing exponentially better. So tell me, what are my chances?
