Do you people think I will be a strong candidate for a scholarship.

oh and by the way I'll be applying EECS

You have excellent SAT scores and a great GPA. I think you've got a very good chance at getting in. I have no idea about scholarships, though.

Berkeley doesn't take teacher recommendations, though.

Well thanks europegirl.

Berkeley tends to be very tough on international students, and EECS is always a reach. Even for California residents, Berkeley is extremely hard to get into.

Berkeley would be a slight reach school for you. You would probably have a 40% chance of acceptance.

I thought NO academic/merit scholarships are given to international students let alone financial aid...? I forgot what the standards are, but it wouldn't make sense for a state school (struggling to come up with sufficient funding) to pay for some kid in another country to have their education here in California... something you should definitely look into...

TTG

I read about an indian girl who's going UCB this year with full tuition scholarship.
But then maybe the info is wrong.Anyone here who has any correct info regarding this matter

it's true. international students, albeit rarely, do get full-ride scholarships to cal. they are often the cream of the crop who get accepted to all the schools they apply to, including HYPS.

i remember a news article where a miss korea who scored perfect on the SAT and all APs was offered a full-ride scholarship to berkeley (i heard she went somewhere else, boo). usually people like her are eligible for such scholarships.

btw, as for your chances, i think you have a pretty good shot, even though you're an international student.

however, i don't think your stats would be strong enough to make you eligible for a scholarship though. as someone already mentioned, even in-state students are struggling to get financial aid.
