What is your class rank or approximate decile?
Are you a CA resident?

Dear jshain,

My school does not provide information on class rank and on approximate decile. Nevertheless, based on my assumptions, I believe I would definitely be in the category of top 25%, and no, I am not a California resident. I am a South Korean. Thanks.

Whoa… You are so similar to me.
Are you applying for financial aid or scholarships?
and also are you from the foreign language school in Korea?

On U.S. school standards your GPA would be considered low but since you are an international student, with likely grade deflation at your school, you get some benefit of the doubt. I’m not sure a (projected) top 25% decile will be good enough to get into the top-tier schools. Your ECs are impressive, your SAT is good (with a low CR score which is somewhat typical for international students) and I think you have a shot getting accepted to CMC. I would not bet against you on this one. Good luck.

Claremont McKenna College- high match
Princeton University- high reach
Brown University- mid to high reach
Georgetown University somewhat unpredictable, but probably low reach
George Washington University match
University of Virginia high match
College of William & Mary high match
UC Berkeley low reach
UC San Diego match
UC Los Angeles high match/ low reach
McGill University match
Rutgers University - New Brunswick safety

Dear UrbanNight,

I am definitely applying for financial aid/scholarships. With CMC known for having relatively less emphasis on GPA and more emphasis on leaderships and extracurriculars, I am not sure though whether merit-based scholarships would be realistic to attain, but I might as well just give it a try. US schools are so expensive, man, and no, I’m not. (Those schools are ridiculous, full of crazy people) Anyway, I’ve only been to American international schools throughout Asia. (xP Sorry don’t really wanna reveal specifically where because I do want to maintain some confidentiality in my identity. Haha, I hope you understand).
