Ok. Im taking AP CALC AB AND BC and AP PHYSICS C and taking blowoffs as my other classess.

I want to take AP US History instead of 4 blowoffs. I was wondering how good do u have to be in AP US HISTORY To get a 5 on the AP test. I plan on studying over the summer. I want to self study AP Psychology and Maybe AP Computer Science.

ap us takes up a lot of time, but i'm sure you can do ap psych, its really a cram test. but US, you're really gonna have to study and know the content.

In US for a 5 you have to know a lot of info. In class we learned so much that I know random pieces of information off the top of my head. You have to be that good.

There is no reason to take AB and BC. There is a lot of duplication and crossover between the 2 classes, and the additonal homework does not make it worth while. Just take BC and US History, which does require a lot of reading.

edit: Ae you a going to be a Senior? if so, I advise you take Calculus BC, AP US History and Physics C AND an English class, and then you are set- take any other blowoff classes you want. Be sure you take a total of 4 years of English. It won't look good on your college applications if you don't, regardless of how many AP courses you self-study for.

Thanks Guys. I want to self study AP US History and AP Psychology. Dont worry about the calculus thing. It will be there cuz my school is messed up.

I'll prepare during the summer or something

AP Psychology.. I can easily do well..

I need to know info about AP US. The Book we have in out school is "The Ameircan Pageant 12th Edition"

Is there any other book out there better than that? I saw a book with a flag on it and its for a review.

Please guide me in any way possible.

PS:

I might consider self studying:

AP Computer science A or AB. Please provide me any guidance for that
AP Stats. I dont know about this class. It seems very confusing because the instructor in our school teaches general math and ap stats..

Our school currently uses "The American Pageant 12th edition. I've seen the book and I have to say I don't find it extremely comprehensive. When I took the class we used an American History book from Houghten Mifflin. I can't remember the name off the top of my head. It was a college book, 1200 pages, and extremely informative. I got a 4 on the test just by doing a read through. However, just know that in order to do well on the US History exam you need to know a ton of information. It's probably one of the hardest AP's out there.

We used American Pageant last year in AP... I never read it. I used the outlines that are available online (search Google) and a Kaplan prep book and got a 5. I took a Psyc course at the local college and had ~98% A (EXTREMELY EASY), so I am self-studing the AP test now. I am also self studying AP Comp Sci AB with only a semi-half-decent background in Java - but it should work out. I am ALSO (No, I'm not insane... yet) self studying Phys C. Phys B doesn't seem too hard and I took Calc AB last year (got a 5 - self studying BC this year), so I think I'll do ok on Phys C.

I would recommend taking Psyc and US History now (although the latter requires a considerable time commitment - don't need a textbook, though) along with the other APs you mentioned. If you have a STRONG background with computers, go for Comp Sci too. (I don't have a strong background, but my dad teaches this stuff, so I got some help)
