My cute sophomore daughter wants me to ask!

Cute Asian daughter? I’ll chance her for her number. Just kidding :)

Anyways:

General advice - Her activities seem to be very spread out! While this shows that she is interested in many areas, such as nanny-ing, cheerleading, gymanstic-ing, and such, I suggest that she focus more on one area, or two. For example, maybe practice her gymnastics to a point where she is able to compete in competitions, etc.

Some specifics: Keep her enrolled in her clubs! Getting officer positions in them is very good. Some of those clubs have competitions - getting awards will be very helpful as well. Try some volunteering. Have her take a diagnostic test for the SAT/ACT. She should try and get a 2200, or 34ACT. If she gets those scores, she is above the 90%ile of applicants for ALL of those schools listed in terms of scores. Take some AP next year. A competitive amount is 3. 1, or 2 is on the weak side. 4+ is good, but might be too much work; it’s probably better to spend time in clubs and activities than doing massive amounts of hw and studying. Get that UW GPA closer to 4, though a 3.88 is acceptable for your schools. I assume her classrank is fine as well (top 10%) because of her GPA.

^I guess in the end I couldn’t offer anything specific. Well. Good luck! WOrk hard now, try not to leave things off for 11th and 12th grade - you’ll be swamped with hw.
