Hi. I’m a junior and a female (obviously).
Well I’m considering Barnard and my dad is really against me considering me.
He hates NYC and thinks that it’ll be expensive, especially if I don’t have money. I understand that and that’s why I’m trying to save money now.
He doesn’t know anyone smart from Barnard and says that Barnard is a school for rich pretty girls.
How can I convince him to possibly change his mind? I think Barnard is a fantastic school where great women go. I want to study premed and I think it would be a good choice.
Any thoughts?
There are lots of thoughts----tell him about the notable alumnae; about the fact that it’s one of the Seven Sisters schools…find articles and have him read them.
Barnard is generous with financial aid; however, your dad may be concerned about finances. You need to have a frank discussion with him about this. Do some research on your own and have a reasoned, informed discussion with him about Barnard. Telling him you just want to go to school in NYC is not going to get the job done! (Not suggesting that is what you are doing…)
