My dad offered me $5 to solve this easy question

^lol so easy too!

dude u used 2 twice

5^4 - 3^(2+1) = 598…

((5+4+1)*√3)^2 = 300… if only it could be multiplied by 2.

(5*√3)^2 * 4 * 1 = 300 also…

(5*(3-1))^√4 * 2 = 200… if only it could be multiplied by 3.

This seems impossible.

I rescind my answer and give up.

IMO, it can’t be done. Else why would OPs dad offer $5 for solving it?

My question is, why would the OP describe it as an “easy question”? Shouldn’t he have been able to solve it, then?

He’s a ■■■■■!!! It’s impossible!

Dont mean to be a smarta** about this but

can we use a number three times?

you said we cant use anumber twice

ah-ha! :p

2^335^2

The factorization has three numbers, two of which are used twice. To form the numbers that are used twice, you have to use at least two numbers each. That brings it up to 7 numbers total. The sqrt has to be involved somewhere, or else it’s not possible.
(OP, did your dad tell you this was possible? And this is the longest time I’ve ever spent on an SAT question :p)

yes, my dad said it was possible

ive looked thru all of it so far and no1s gotten it with the rules AND =600 so far. So apparently its either impossible or we haven’t thought of something

Sorry I dont have a calculator on hand or the time, does ollegor’s work? "If we can round… (5+2)^4/(3+1) = 600.25 "

Anyhow if all else comes to fail, Im guessing it might be a trick question and we can go 5pencer and say we can use 3 numbers but not 2 lol? but i highly doubt it

why are you so desperate for five dollars???

^ lol.

And yeah, my calculation is equal to 600.25 Rounding would get the right answer.

He’s saving up for direct hits. That’s why!

hey, what about this?

1,2,3,4,5
(if squaring does not use 2)

[(145)^2]*3/2

edit: I just read the first post again, so this doesn’t work, haha

im saving up for this so-called ‘Gameboy’ it’s the latest release since the last time I checked with the gaming world… but, of course, that was years ago before my dad blocked off my outside contact with the world so I could study for SAT…

but no, in reality, im just interested
