Is this a good financial aid package?
My efc-1,158

Total grants/scholarships- 21,239

Hell yes. My EFC is 0 but I hope to get a similar FA package.

They nailed it in another thread - $14,400 is a lot of debt per year.

So no, I would not recommend this.

It is actually $11,671 in debt per year. So $46,000 in debt, which is still pretty high. What is your planned major?

Yep. 11.6. My bad. Thanks!

@intparent accounting

@PitLV2109 are you attending uiuc if so what was your package?

Hmm… What are your other choices? And I don’t know how UIUC admits for that major – are you in for that najor, or is there some other step?

@intparent at UIUC once your are admitted to the college of business, you just declare your major junior year. Since I got accepted into their college of business, there is no resistance to becoming an accountant.

So that is good news. What are your other options?

@intparent I got similar financial aid packages from other instate schools, but Illinois is in a financial aid crisis. Most of the other cheaper schools in Illinois are on the verge of closing. And I didn’t apply to many out of state colleges, except for IU and Purdue, and I havent gotten my financial aid packages from them yet.

Yes, my cousin is a prof at a smaller Illinois state school, I have been hearing about it. :frowning: As an OOS student, you can’t expect much aid from either Purdue or IU. But I think this is on the border of ill-advised debt, although you are in a major that at least has reasonable earnings potential. You may not have much choice except this or CC, and there is no guarantee you would get an aid package this good when you transfer to a 4 year school.

@intparent i won’t be taking out every loan though, just the direct Stafford loan and what ever
Is left of my balance I will work throughout the summer to earn the rest

That makes sense.
