So basically they are telling me the loans I can take out to pay for college? Because I have pre-paid so doesnt that seem kind of unnecessary to take out loans?

Fall Spring Total

PREDICTED DIRECT UNSUB LOAN Awarded 1,750.00 1,750.00 $ 3,500.00
PREDICTED FLORIDA MEDALLION SCH Awrd 1,260.00 1,260.00 $ 2,520.00
PREDICTED FEDERAL PLUS LOAN Awarded 4,525.00 4,525.00 $ 9,050.00

My son has Prepaid Tuition and Dorm, plus 100% Bright Futures. We still owed $397.00 for the Fall Semester, and $597.00 for his Spring Semester. (It was lower in the Fall, because they used his $200.00 deposit.)(Figures are approximate.)

Prepaid Tuition does not cover fees. It is $107.00 per credit this year, and $25.00 of that was for fees that we had to pay. Prepaid covered only the $82.00 tuition. So..... 13 credits X $25.00 = $325.00

Prepaid Dorm covered his dorm charge in total. No extra fees. If you don't have Prepaid Dorm, it's about $1,858.00 per semester.

We used the Bright Futures money to buy his meal plan and cover the tuition fees that Prepaid Tuition didn't cover. Because my son took only 13 credits each semester, he only got 13 credits X $107.00 from Bright Futures. That's only $1,391.00 each semester, so it did not cover the cost of a $1,600.00 meal plan and $325.00 in fees. That's why we had to pay the rest ourselves.

You mentioned that you had the Medallion Bright Futures, so it might help to know that my son's books were about $500 in the Fall, and under $300 for the Spring Semester.

I hope these figures help you figure out if you need to consider the education loans you've been awarded. Good luck to you!

You need to figure monies for meal plan/board--food. Not covered by prepaid or bright futures and is included in what it is going to cost to attend. And it adds up!

Yeah... I got my crappy OOS package which consisted of a stafford loan and a work study. It pretty much sucks, but I don't know if I'm goin or not.

I checked all of the stuff on how to get in state tuition. 1) At least one of my parents has to declare themself a resident of Florida. That's not gonna happen. OR 2) I have to become independent from my parents which requires paying for 51% of everything. I can't make $15,000+ while still going to school. So it's pretty much impossible to get instate tuition even after a year.

I filled out the FAFSA and financial aid stuff about 2 months ago and they said that they have reviewed it and that everything is complete. Where do i go to check how much aid i will recieve. do they mail it to me or is there a specific website?

Have all financial aid packages been finalized? I checked on ISIS today and it still says that my package has not been finalized, should I be worried? Most of my friends have received theirs.
