My horror has come T_T

Hi all,

I am Vietnamese and I have a problem with my name (!!!).
Letting my full name in Vietnamese be "A B C", with "A" being my surname. Traditionally, my first name is "C" only, and "B" is my middle name. However, in some modern cases, my first name is known as "B C" (a double-worded name), without any middle name.

When registering with CollegeBoard for SAT 2, I filled in the form with my first name as "C" (traditiona way), and it was about 8 months ago. But with MIT, I use "B C" as my first name. This discrepancy might be the reason for why my SAT scores haven't been received by MIT.

What should I do now? Might this problem make my application form invalid?

Any effort of yours is appreciated.

E-mail or call MIT and tell them about the discrepancy. It will most definitely NOT make your application invalid. I had a similar problem. I'm Chinese so let's say that my official name is Jing Wang (Jing being first name). That's the name that appears on my transcript, passport, AP scores, etc. However, most people know me as Jennifer and when I registered for the SATs, I registered as Jennifer Wang. Later, I was made aware of the confusion this might cause so from then on, I registered as Jing Wang on all of my SATs. That actually made everything worse b/c now I had to send scores from two names and I was really afraid that schools would simply disregard the scores I had under Jennifer Wang. However, MIT's admissions office was absolutely brilliant and took both sets of scores before I even got a chance to explain. So clearly, it's not a big problem at all. If your scores still haven't been received, just contact them and inform them of the possible confusion. Good luck! :)
