Be aware that you’re unlikely to transfer to “higher” schools than UCB or UCLA. Those do take a lot of transfers from CA community colleges (whereas other top schools don’t take a lot of transfers and those tend to be “lateral” transfers, coming from other high-ranking 4 -year colleges). UCB and UCLA don’t have guaranteed agreements with community colleges so ask the transfer adviser(s) what percentage of their students manage to transfer into one of these two and whether it take the students 4, 5, 6, 7 or more semesters to accrue the required credits.

Thanks for the great advice @MYOS1634 is there anything else I need to do to sign up for CC? I’m not 100% sure on it yet but I’d rather not do anything too late (since getting what you need can be tough with the large quantity of people)

bump

CC are open enrollment. It means that you don’t need to provide grades or anything, just the proof you graduated from high school. You can even deposit at one of your 4 year schools and change your mind in June and enroll at a community college.
The first information you need, and very quickly, is how much your parents can pay. If they can’t pay for your 4-year college choices, then community college would be your only alternative since you can only borrow $5,500.
The “what if” is not a good way to live. What if you accepted a job and a better one were to come along? What if you chose an apartment and later you’d have been able to find better for your budget, or cheaper?
