My List For Next Year...

rejected :/

I wouldn’t say Hogwarts, since its wood instead of marble and has a completely different set up, but it is v. nice.

HA. I will be given special treatment since I was waitlisted. NOW I WILL STEAL YOUR FA MONEY. MUAHHAHAHAH

I couldn’t find a pic on google of the dining hall.

:P meanie!

yeah, its not great hall like. whoever said that is not qualified to assess Harry-Potter-ness.

its like wood and has multiple rooms.

found one.
^stalker.

anyway, not great hall like. I think someone made that comparison b/c of its… grandeur.

??? How am I a stalker???

SSRS

that many spaces was unnecessary. b/c u found tht. its more of a term of endearment than an insult in this context really. joking.

Yeah I know.

And unnecessary spaces is a way of life. You have to live it, everyday.

Nope, I refuse. ayo b, im heading in for the… morning. Adios!

Sleep is overrated. haha.

Good night.

yes Middlesex

i like how it was the only school in bold

Rad – As you put together your list for next year, my suggestion is that you include several schools that you visit and love, and that place you in the top 25% of applicants. It is unfortunate, but financial aid applicants are not usually on the same footing as full pay applicants. As a result, it is wise to include schools to which you offer something that the regular applicant pool does not have. Does that make sense? Of course, you should also include some of the most competitive schools close to home that you think you are a great fit for, and be sure to emphasize that fit in your application and interview. You stated that you are not happy with your public school, so measure your list against your public school.

I suggested adding more all girls schools because they offer a great education, but are not as popular right now. Mercersburg is a great school with a large endowment, but is some distance from you. They may be looking for more geographic diversity, but I don’t know this for a fact. I realize that going to an all girls school, or attending a school 6 hours away is hard to consider and may be the wrong choice for you. Blair is a good choice if you visit and love it, because I suspect that it is farther from home but still accessible from Rt. 84. The top 25% of the class does very well.

Good luck next admission cycle!

Burb parent gives very good advice here. It’s pretty much what my son did and he was very happy on March 10 because he really couldn’t have made a bad choice with the schools from which he had to choose. If you’re going to visit L’ville, you might as well visit Blair as it’s sort of, kind of, but not totally on the way ;). My son visited both on the same day and I think (but am not totally sure) that it took about 2 hours. I’m sure Burb parent could clarify.

Blair is really really pretty and has an extremely positive “vibe” to it, if that makes any sense at all.

i also recommend peddie. its a really awesome school and like 10 minutes from lawrenceville and blair sort of if u end up visiting.

I think St. George’s is worth considering.

Also, Hill and Governor’s

@the above: I realize the financial concerns etc., this is just a rough list. I really like M’burg and was going to apply this year but just never really put myself towards it. Not that I don’t like it (I love it actually), I’m just lazy :stuck_out_tongue: Also, my school is not public. It’s a charter, similar but not. (Privately owned, Publicly operated is how they put it)

What about Governor’s it seems really nice.

So:

MIDDLESEX
Blair
L’ville
M’BURG
EMMA WILLARD
Governor’s
NMH
TAFT?
Porter’s???
Exeter? (:stuck_out_tongue: seems like a lot of work for such a lazy person)
Concord? (my friend goes there)
Millbrook?
ST. ANDREW’S DE
Kent(that’s another one I like but never get around to v evidence)
Loomis

^ any comments on those? Note: This is a rough list of schools that I like, I’m looking to cut it down to… 7? (is that a good number?)

I’m not looking to travel too far a distance though.

Those in caps or bold are ones I especially like at this point.

Here are some schools on my list that aren’t on yours that I suggest you look into (if you want):

Andover
Brooks
Choate (NVM - we already had this discussion)
Kent
Hotchkiss
Loomis
Peddie (distance may be an issue for you?)
St. Marks
St. Pauls
Tabor

ew, hotchkiss. :{ My sister would chop my head off if I even interviewed there.
Tabor- I don’t really like it
St. Mark’s: :{ I’ll check it out but I don’t like it really.
SPS: meh, too spread out
Peddie: I don’t like that campus
Brooks: eh
Andover: My goal is to get IN
Choate: ^exactly :P

just curious, why is Hotchkiss an ew? Is it due to its rivalry with Taft?
And I like how diverse your list is…mine consists of 4 schools = /
