My Pre-Application GPA to Foster School of Business was miscalculated. What should i do?

Today is the notification day for the Foster School of Business, and i just got my decision letter; nevertheless, i was denied with the combined GPA of 3.67, Pre-Application GPA of 3.75, (but they miscalculated it, and it is 3.47 on the decision letter), WSA score of 3.25.
I am very upset that my pre-application gpa was miscalculated, probably losing me a chance to be considered for the admission. What should i do now? Should i appeal? If there is an appealing procedure, how do i appeal? Do you guys think they will reconsider?

Are you sure they miscalculated it? They take the numbers you provide, so there isn’t much room for error on their end.

If I remember correctly, Pre-App GPA is calculated by taking the highest of each: English, Accounting (215/225), Econ (200/201), and Math, then taking the average.

Yes, that is correct.
My Calc is 3.0 Acct is 4.0 Econ is 4.0 English is 4.0, so pre-app gpa is 3.75.

Hmmm, that’s weird. Were you a transfer student at any time? Or did you take your accounting course at a CC? I’m still not sure if that has anything to do with your pre-app gpa, but 2 accounting courses at a CC transfer as a combined entry at UW (so maybe they took both grades into consideration?). They transfer as 2 different courses, but you have to take both to earn credit for accounting 215.

If this isn’t the case, is it possible that the courses have different credit loads?
If none of this applies to you, I would definitely contact an advisor or the department!

I am a current UW student, and yes, i took those 2 accounting classes at CC, and got 4 for both of them. It is weird, that they calculated it as 3.47.

It certainly wouldn’t hurt to seek further clarification on the matter and request another consideration of your application.

I would definitely check with them though your WSA score is below average (average for admitted: 4.22). It is also weighed 10% more than the pre-app.

Nevertheless, I would consult them to see if they could reconsider your application (haven’t heard of an appeal to departmental admission yet).

I’d contact the Foster 's Admission Offices. But your WSA may have stumped it because it is below average of accepted applicants and overall applied. Plus WSA is weighed heavier than pre application gpa. When I atteneded the WSA workshop, they told us how we should aim for a 4-5 because 2-3 won’t typically cut it…
