My school doesn't offer Neuroscience as a major. What is the best alternative?

I attend University of California at Davis, which doesn't offer Neuroscience as a major. I'm pretty sure this is what I want to do, since I've always been very interested in learning about the human brain. I've always been interested in psychology, but I feel like psychology is too "soft" of a science. After getting my undergrad, I want to get a Ph.D in cognitive/behavioral Neuroscience. So what is the best alternative major for a Neuroscience enthusiast with a career plan of conducting research and/or teaching with a Ph.D?

Either Biochemistry or Biology with a double major or minor in Psychology.

Thank you very much, csh123

OP, UC-D offers a major in “Neurobiology, Physiology, & Behavior” in its College of Biological Sciences. The Psychology Dept. offers a BS degree in Psychology with a biology emphasis.

My first thought was NPB, as the above poster said. You could do that and maybe a psych minor.
