My school offers what they call "AP Calculus" but they don't label it AB or BC. Then when the AP test comes around, we are allowed to choose AB or BC.

First of all, is this normal?
Second, if I'm taking this my senior year, how can I let colleges know that I plan to take the BC test? Does it even matter? I'm applying as a computer science and engineering major, if that makes a difference.

And an unrelated question: I had a geometry teacher who just plain sucked. And I never want to see him again. And he teaches AP Stats. Do I take AP Stats (keeping in mind, Computer Science and Engineering major) or do I take Physics instead (no Honors or AP offered at my school)?

On college apps, there’s a part where you list taken and future ap tests. That’s where you write that you’re going to take the BC test (or AB). Most schools write AB/BC on the course title, but not having it shouldn’t matter. It’s more important that you have a rigorous schedule.

As for your other question, it looks like you want to go to Berkeley by your username, in which case I would suggest you take physics. UC’s STRONGLY prefer to see the bio-chem-physics classes in your high school transcript. Your counselor can explain that there are no honors/ap’s for that class. If a UC is not the case, then go for whichever you think you’ll do better at.

Estheri, thank you so much. That makes me feel much better. And yes, you read my username correctly. =] It’s a dream school.
