My son needs help improving his SAT score

He scored in the 1300s and is hoping to improve. He has been studying off of the CollegeBoard and Princeton Review study guides, and seems to be hitting a wall on improving.

We live in a small town in Canada, so it’s difficult to find SAT tutors. Are there any other resources you guys would recommend beyond just books? Thanks in advance!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, use https://www.khanacademy.org/sat - it’s free!

and get these three books:

PWN the SAT

The Critical Reader

The Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar

available at Amazon or your local library.

of you buy these books and have questions the authors have blogs and will help!

He might try the ACT. My three preferred and did better on ACT

I would suggest practicing on UWorld. Their questions are really similar to the real ones, and they have great explanations. If you don’t know all the math content, maybe you should buy College Panda Math. Also, try regularly taking timed College Board Practice tests, making sure to go over your mistake after.

Maybe you could consult your son’s English teacher for some SAT tutoring.

What US schools is he aiming for?

This is a really good website. (I am not promoting it or anything - I just found it useful to prepare for my SAT Essay)
