So basically, at the beginning of every school year, I make the decision to correct or not correct my new teachers when they call me by my first name. People usually call me by my middle name, but I've kind of grown sick of correcting everyone so I usually let it go.

The problem is, one of my teachers who is writing my recommendation letters calls me by my first name, the other by my middle. Will this be seen as bad by admissions- like, as if one of the teachers knows my better and the other doesn't?

No it won’t seem bad to admissions, but it is on your best interest that your name matches on everything. You should make sure it does so that part of your application doesn’t get lost. Whatever name you have in common app should be the same on your recs, social security, FAFSA, etc. it is more important that your name is accurate on the financial aid forms or you could risk not getting the aid you need at the time you need it. One of my friends had that happen because his first name is very common and his middle initial was wrong on his social security and he couldn’t get his aid until they were sure it was him.

To be clear: Both names are part of my legal full name. Both names are on the Common App, my school transcripts, my naviance account, and federal everything.

It seems weird now to go to one of my teachers are ask them to switch out my name for one they never called me before.

Just tell her that you like being called by your middle name but you need your first name on there for official purposes.
