Did anyone get the invititation to go the Naval Academy Prep School in Newport? if you did, it is truly a great oppurtunity and iwould say take, as i am. I am a senior at Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington D.C. and im taking this opporunity.

Thats awesome! We play them in sports (I go to a private school about thirty minutes north of Newport in MA) and everyone I've met who goes there loves it. When did you find this out?

Congrats Admiral! :)

I find out the day after my congressional interview. This is defintely better than getting rejected. But even if you do get rejected by a certain Academy, keep trying and call them back. It happened to my friend at Air Force. But then he kept calling back and he finally got admitted! he's a "doolie" right now.

Admiral Thomas, when did you get the news? and what are your stats? and of course congrats!

I'm a NAPSter right now on Christmas leave (woo hoo!) It's challenging academically because the instructors don't really teach you, you have to teach yourself. They assign you a brand new chapter or section to read and give you the homework. The next day you get quizzed on it to see if you actually did the reading. Then that day the instuctor goes over the material. I have a 2.2 right now but I admit I've been lazy. My roommate has a 3.5 (in all advanced classes except English) and does all her homework so it is managable. The thing is your grades and PRT score determines how much liberty you get. Like the super smart students (3.7+) are allowed to wear civilian clothes for dinner on weekdays and are allowed to leave base between 6 to 8:30pm. Overnight liberty on weekends are a big deal. If you do not have overnights you must be back on base and in your rack by midnight on weekends. It takes a 3.0 and a B on the PRT to get unlimited overnights. I rate only two per marking period. I used one of them up last weekend with a trip to New York City :D Congrats to you!

My stats are:

Lacrosse: 2 years Varsity - Co Captain

Cross Country : 1 year Varsity

President of Senior Class

Captain of Debate team

Christian service Club

Band

3.5 Cum GPA (Low SAT's.....probably why im going to NAPS)

The Recs from the Summer Seminar Saved me... and on the PAE i did 120 pushups and had the fastest shuttle run.

Probably going to NAPS too cause of SATS..called and said if i got 600 in both math and verbal could go straight to academy. 570 570 is what i got..

ullnvdiz,

do not fret, my friend!

the NAPS graduates are usually the leaders in USNA. so the extra prep is good.
