Other than the great academics, beautiful campus, etc., one of the main reasons why I applied to Vanderbilt is that I'm totally in love with Nashville. What's the country scene like on campus?

As in country music?

Unless things have changed in the past 5 years...none, whatsoever.

The (country) music scene in Nashville identifies more with Belmont University. Many of the people who work on Music Row went through there.

The above post is mostly true, although there are many country music groups that play in little cafes and stuff like 2 min walks off campus.

thanks for the input!

D has acquired a taste for certain country groups/artists during her 4 years in Nashville. I was in Nashville over the weekend for a Moms Weekend and during dinner one of the sorority sisters was taking the temperature of the girls as to interest in going to a bar downtown where the rumor was that Lady Antebellum was going to play later that evening. Dierks Bentley is a Vandy alum and my understanding is that he appears in certain classes each semester.

Amy Grant is a Vandy alum (although she didn't graduate) and her husband, Vince Gill, is tight with Kevin Stallings and is often spotted at Vandy baksetball games.

Thanks! (I'm actually a big fan of all of the artists you mentioned). Nashville is what attracted me to Vanderbilt in the first place, and I ended up falling in love with the university itself. It's great to know that it would be easy for me to get involved in the country scene while attending an incredible school.
