A few months back, I was recognized as a National Achievement Semifinalist (I proceeded to put this on the Common App). One of my college application supplements asked me if I was a National Achievement Scholar. Is this the same thing as the Semifinalist Status? I can't find the answer online. I asked because a college congratulated me on being a NA Scholar and I got really confused...

It looks like the timeline is basically the same as the National Merit Finalists. http://www.nationalmerit.org/steps_nasp.pdf I think the college considers NASF in the category of National Achievement Scholar. Congratulations!

My D did not learn that she was a scholar until the last week of February last year. I don’t remember much, but I remember this because she’d just returned to school from winter break.

The way I understand it is semifinalist are notified, then in January finalist are notified and thereafter Scholars are notified. This is a progressive process and not all semifinalist will become finalist just as not all finalist will become Scholars. This is my interpretation from my readings.
