National Honor Society?

I was caught cheating on a test back in freshmen year and got an honor code violation. It was a stupid mistake. I was wondering if it was still possible to get into NHS. Is NHS really that important? Could i still get into a good school, like an ivy without NHS? Without the violation, I'm more than well qualified; 99 average, lots of extracirrculars, and a bunch of service.

I got into Penn without joining NHS. It can be done!

Is the cheating on your record or will your GC mention it in his/her rec? If so, NHS really doesn't matter because you will be rejected from most competitive schools you apply to because they have so many qualified applicants that they do not need to waste time reading a cheater's application.

The honor code violation is enough to make ivy admission really, really difficult regardless of your NHS status. The convo in the admissions office will be about the violation, not Honor Society or lack thereof

Ok, so maybe not an Ivy. What about NYU. I had my heart set on it.
