National level competitive athlete of non-collegiate sport.

Hello, everyone! Just hoping to get some of your thoughts in regards to the admissions process to top tier schools in regards to athletics in conjunction. My dilemma resides in the aspect of my sport (snowboarding) being non-collegiate. Therefore I am wondering if my achievement in the sport will not weigh in as much as it would if it were a collegiate sport such as football, soccer, etc.

While it isn’t something you’d be recruited for, it is something that makes you stand out. Top schools would not necessarily overlook weaknesses in your app, but if you have the stats, this could make your app jump out of the pile. Definitely highlight this achievement!

Thank you! I certainly intend to as well as attempt to really raise my SAT.
