Florida funded scholarship, Benacquisto, for NMF which covers COA for 4 years for instate and (from this year) OOS students.
Thx, Housing too?
I believe so.
COA = tuition + fees + housing + food + book + supplies + transportation + maybe computer and personal expenses.
One thing I and some other people here are trying to find out is if the scholarship is funded 4 years at a time or approved one year at a time.
My son’s school (Georgia) finally received notice today!
My DD’s school in Nor cal has not recieved it yet. I spoke to the principal now
One interesting tidbit is that the letter to the principal has a note that says something to the effect that if any student has had a significant disciplinary problem or drop in grades since the application was submitted, let NMSC know immediately. Gave my D a bit of a pause to think someone could have messed it up this late in the process!
Just confirmed with school that they have not received not received notification. They checked with NMSC and were told that letters were mailed out 2/4. Mail is slow. Utah
Confirmed as a finalist in Houston, Texas. Scholl received the letter just now. Counsellor called my daughter and congratulated her.
@tvn2018-tx , Benacquisto renews automatically each year as long as student has 3.0 GPA and takes the minimum credits.
@vistajay - I think @tvn2018-tx is more concerned about state funding for all four years versus how the student qualifies for renewal. I believe UF is the only school without a plan in place as to how they would help OOS Benacquisto students if the state removed funding. It seems that the state remains committed to their higher ed programs which is reassuring.
No news still in the CO mountains. I am officially over all of this waiting!
DD just received the good news from her college center counselor in Northern CA
Snow day in Eastern PA, so no one is at school. The wait drags on…
This snail mail system is annoying. Hang in there. We have been in this loooonnngggg journey together since Dec. 2017. They should come up with a better way of doing this just like the US Presidential Scholars team. I cannot understand why a mail that was sent on Feb 4th has reached Houston only today. Bizarre system and my heart goes out to the kids who are going through this. They have worked so hard and have been relying on this for so long. It’s almost a torture to make them wait this long to know if they made it or not. Best wishes to all. All is well that ends well!
We just emailed daughter’s school and she is a finalist! South Florida
No official notification from the school yet, but my son was congratulated on finalist by one of his teachers today. Apparently the school emailed the teachers the list but didn’t bother to tell the kids.
Nothing yet in MA
No news from Maryland yet. Still waiting
Confirmed as a finalist in FL today!! So relieved!! Counselor said it just came in the mail today.
For future reference, it IS possible to make Finalist with a C on your transcript. Son had a semester C in AP Euro as a freshman and still made it.
Phew! What a long road!
@kdnmom - after reading your earlier posts, this makes me so happy! Congratulations!
