National Merit Merit Corporate Scholarships

That link is what I was looking on.

I have looked at it many times. I was specifically asking for corporate-sponsored scholarships and whether or not I could receive any.

And now that you know that you won’t qualify for any corporate sponsored NMF awards, what will your school list look like…and how will you pay for them?

For NMF you get a couple of thousand dollars. For real money see what each school gives (the yolasite provided to you). Some schools WANT to “upgrade” their student body and will effectively pay you to attend (full tuition). Highly competitive schools already have those kind of students so they don’t need to play in that arms race.

Since my son did win a corporate scholarship and you don’t seem to be getting the message from the other posters, I’m going to repeat the information.

You’re a finalist, and only half of the NMF’s are selected as scholarships winners. The corporate sponsors tend to “spread the wealth” for employees’ children so we get $2500 max per year for our son’s schooling. Our son was one of ~10 NMFs at his high school, but our son was the only one who was a “winner”.

Since your parents don’t appear to work for any of the large corporates, who sponsor those awards, you have no chance of getting a corporate sponsored award. You need to select those schools that NEED your stats. That means schools that aren’t in the “best” locations nor are they the “popular” schools. If you want merit money, that’s what you have to do.

Avoiding the website means you really don’t like the schools listed. So what is is going to be?

MONEY OR PRESTIGE?

Do you need money to attend or not? If you go where the merit money is, you have to be willing to go to some “non-prestigious” schools. PRESTIGE means you are paying $60K on your own.

Personally, and not to be cruel, your stats and EC’s don’t scream “EXCEPTIONAL”, when compared to other valedictorians, so I doubt you’ll make the cut if someone in your state has higher stats with “better” EC’s.

USE THE POSTED WEBSITES, and come down to reality.

Need to clarify this. Your stats won’t likely win you that ONE TIME $2500 award from NMCorp. And, again, it’s only an award for ONE year.

Lmao, I don’t really appreciate you guys acting like I’m incompetent. I wanted to know how the corporate scholarships worked and understood the answer the first time it was given. I don’t need any more information, all of my posts after the original were just in response to questions. I appreciate your trying to help (especially @mom2collegekids), but some of you are just being rude.

Not meaning to be rude or interpreted that way.

Money is just so hard to find and get.

“I don’t need any more information, all of my posts after the original were just in response to questions.”

Good luck.

Fair enough. I see you get the message on how it works. Good luck on your college search process.
