NCAA and men's rowing

Can someone set me straight on this? If my kid is interested in rowing at a d1 school, he needs to register with the eligibility center, correct? And if he is invited on any recruitment trips, I assume they will be handled according to ncaa rules?

I paid the fee and got the ID number, but I'm confused by all the questions about transcripts. My son has taken various courses online and it sounds like we have to get the transcripts sent to the ncaa even if they were just enrichment courses and not being used for graduation from his high school. What a pain! It's not like he gets bad grades or has anything to hide, and I should think it would be obvious from his real high school transcript. Can anyone tell me whether rowers have to eventually get cleared by the ncaa in order to row at a d1 school? Thanks!

As I understand it, men’s rowing is not recognized by the NCAA but the schools that have men’s varsity teams choose to operate by NCAA guidelines.

Thanks, Varska. I guess I will plug ahead with eligibility certification unless I hear otherwise. It’s such a hassle if you have attended more than one school or have taken classes in different places.
