I am currently a recruited athlete at NYU which is a D3 school and I just submitted my application a few days ago. I did sign up for the NCAA eligibility but I have not sent my SAT scores, transcripts, etc. Do you think that really matters for a d3 school?
I attended an information session that addressed this question. The presenter who spoke to parents is a staff member in charge of eligibility at a D1 school… The presenter said that if a student meets admission requirements at a D3 school, he/she automatically meets NCAA eligibility requirements. So, in terms of NCAA eligibility, my unofficial parent understanding is that a student who meets academic standards at a D3 school does not have to submit any academic documentation to the NCAA for academic eligibility for athletics at a D3 school.
D3 athletes do not have to register with the clearing house because no money is being awarded. If you are still taking ACT or SAT tests, you could just use one of the free reports and send it to the clearing house (code 9999) and just send your final transcript next summer so you’d have a complete file if you want to play in a different division.
