In Vanderbilt's FAQ's under financial aid it specifically says "Vanderbilt does not automatically require or send a non-custodial application. There may be times when we will request information and documentation from your non-custodial parent. We will send the appropriate forms if this is deemed necessary." [Does anyone know how often they ask for this information or under what circumstances.] I will be applying to Vandy in the fall and my attendance will be conditional to a generous financial aid package, something that might not be possible if my father, mother, and step father all have to submit information. (my mother and step father file jointly, so their information is tied together.) Thanks to all those who read and offer advice :)>-

Any takers? Come on now…

I doubt anyone knows how often Vanderbilt asks for the non-custodial parent’s financial info–but, unlike most schools, they don’t do so as a matter of course. However, if your mother is your custodial parent, then Vanderbilt will definitely look at your stepfather’s assets/income along with hers–even if they filed separately. But they probably won’t also ask to see your father’s info. Likewise, if your father is your custodial parent then they will probably only look at his information, not your mother and step-dad’s.
