NCSSM Class of 2018 - Future Applicants

So as far as I can see no one on this thread has gotten in off of the waitlist? My friend is very distraught. His limit is July 12th cause that is when his football workouts starts and he fears he will not hear in time. Have they started taking people off of the waitlist?

Hi Jaejay, I was wondering what district you’re from and also are you male or female? This could play into the fact that no one that we have heard of has been accepted off of the waitlist.

13, and female

I am from District 13 and female… no call yet though

Aa hey everyone! This is kind of irrelevant but I couldn’t find another thread to post this on.
(Also eager to hear who got into the class of 2018!)

I’m nowhere near being ready to apply, considering I’m only rising up into 8th grade, but I’m looking to find some more people planning to apply in around 3 years? I’d like to chat a bit about tips and perhaps make some friends to meet if and when I get to ncssm. <3

As an additional note, does anyone have any pointers to give to a young student such as myself?

@FlowerCrown As a Class of 2017 member, just focus on your passions. Challenge yourself, and do what you like.

@shadowclan98
Pretty solid advice! Thank you. <3

My friend and I are wondering if sports are worth doing? They usually end up taking a whole lot of your time and I’d much rather focus on academic extra curriculars and getting the best grades possible, to be honest. (Also rather a clumsy person myself ahah)
Are they too much of a good thing on our potential applications to pass up? What about band/chorus?

@FlowerCrown Again, like I said, do what you want. If you enjoy band or chorus, then keep doing it. If you are athletic/are an athlete, then keep doing the sport. There are plenty of student athletes at NCSSM. Personally, I don’t do sports though. I did marching band, and would keep doing it if NCSSM offered it. They do have a blast band that I will probably do this coming year. (Didn’t do it last year.)

Does anyone know if a kid from NC that went to elementary and middle school in NC but then transferred to a boarding school outside of NC for 9th and 10th, would still be considered a NC resident if he applied in 11th?

I am pretty sure the answer is yes from looking at the info on the website but just really wondering if there are any current NCSSM kids that went to boarding school o/s of NC that currently attend NCSSM.
