Bit of a no brainer really, all the other places minus georgetown have the reputation of being cutthroat while I feel like ND is a family and they would help me out if I were in trouble. That and the no.3 business school is just icing on the cake.

DD is having a bit of a freak-out after declining U of Washington honors college in favor of ND. The basis of her freakout is that she's based her life on lessons she was taught in Catholic school about putting forth her best effort for the sheer joy of doing your best, not for recognition. She has had som real world validation of why this is important, and in my mind admission to ND is the most significant. She's upset now because she feels like she'd remain more connected to people she appreciates if she went to UW..I am saying the opportunity at ND will teach her why it is worth leaving your loved friend network behind for a few years...she's having separation anxiety.

Anybody got any advice? It's hard moving halfway across the continent and she's viewing everybody she ever went to high school with through nostalgia goggles.

Thats a tough situation, Mombot. I am also applying to UDub honors program next year, and it sounds awesome.

But, it does not rival the experience that your daughter will have at Notre Dame. Im sure for the first few weeks she will miss her old friends and her old lifestyle, but I can almost guarantee that with the first month she will be so happy with her decision. Remember, Notre Dame has the third highest frosh to soph retention rate. There's gotta be a reason why.

Once football season starts, and she sees the spirit of ND blossom in front of her eyes I am almost certain that she will know she made the right choice
