I'm a junior and super confused as to which colleges I should I apply to. I'm looking for a college with a great premed program (not necessarily an actual program or major, meaning wonderful advisors and opportunities to boost med school applications/acceptance).

Can anyone please inform me about ND? How is the science rigor? Dorms? Social life? School spirit? Difficulty to maintain a 3.7+?

While not a premed major, I can tell you that Notre Dame’s acceptance rate into med school is 80%, twice the national average. As for student life questions, I believe there are several other forums on that. Really, the best way to determine a college’s fit for you is to visit and experience it firsthand.

Hi! Best of luck with your search! I can give you a little information, only because my daughter was a pre-med at ND, graduating nearly two years ago (2011). She is now a second year med student, so I know of the process she went through! I can echo the above statement that ND has a fantastic med school acceptance rate. The support during the process of testing, applying and interviewing was great. There is a great history with many schools and ND seems to really know where you can apply and do well. I would also say that while there is no “pre-med” major, there is the SCPP and ALPP programs, which are what one would traditionally call a “pre-med” major. My daughter was a SCPP and her room mate was an ALPP. Both double majored as well, which was great! I believe that both girls would say that the best thing about ND was that it was a supportive environment. Students help each other. There is not that “cut throat” feel that is there at other schools. If you have any specific questions, let me know. All the best!
