Thanks

which one is better if i want to go to med school afterwards

Ok well I have heard that Vanderbilt students go off to some pretty low ranking grad schools because the school practices grade deflation or something. It's very hard to acheive an A at Vandy and most students come out with relatively moderate GPAs. I want to attend Vandy for Grad school and come into the program at another school with high GPA. IMHO, I would do ND for undergrad, make stellar grades and apply to Vandy's top notch Med program.
ND has INCREDIBLE laymen prestige and an overactive alumni network that is sure to keep you employed the rest of your years. Even lower Ivy alumni networks cannot acheive half of what ND alumns can do for recent grads. So this is a plus. So a BA from ND and a graduate degree from Vandy will keep you on the straight path to success.

I don't think that is true about Vandy gpas. I transferred to Vandy this year form a SLAC and my gpa has skyrocketed about .4 since coming to Vandy. I've put in the same amount of work, and Vandy is muuuch more generous with gpas.

So just know that compared to some other school, Vandy is really not all that stingy with good grades

Ruben, while it is true that grade deflation does exist to a degree, your assertion that Vanderbilt students "go off to some pretty low ranking grad schools" is incorrect. Certainly, if you do well on your MCATs and achieve high marks, there's no reason why you wouldn't be able to attend the med school of your choice. Top med schools know schools with a history of grade deflation and certainly take that into account. UChicago, almost nefarious for its grade deflation, seems to do just fine in terms of sending kids to top notch grad programs.

"Top med schools know schools with a history of grade deflation and certainly take that into account."

Thank you. Ruben, you're so off the mark it's scary. Grad school admissions officers are in the business of selecting students from the top schools in the nation. Trust me, they take into account grade inflation vs deflation.

Again off the mark with alumni network. ND and Vandy both have stellar networks. Neither can compete with the LACs but they're up there for universities.
