Ok so i know this has been brought up before, but I'll try a new spin. The schools are obviously very similar in some aspects(size, beautiful campus, education quality/rank)
But any input I could get from people who have first hand experience with one, the other, or better yet--both.
Also, I have heard a common complaint against ND being that its great during football season, but it really dies down after that and social opportunities/parties really lessen and not nearly as much goes on. Any thoughts on that?
FYI Vandy has offered me full tuition scholarship plus a $2000 laptop from the engineering school. ND has given pretty good aid, but nothing guaranteed beyond one year.

Wow What great options you have!! My D spent last summer at Vandy and although ND is her top choice she had nothing but awesome things to say about Doc V and the engineering department. Even though my D has eyes only for ND right now I would have an extremely hard time passing up your deal from Vandy. This past summer she had alot of fun in Nashville and Vandy. It is a great school, but D believes ND is a better fit for her. Good luck.

I think that if you plan to major in engineering, you are not going to have too much free time on your hands anyway! Our student is currently a soph in eng at ND, and with the courseload that the eng school requires, he does not find that he has a lot of down time to attend parties, etc. Don't get me wrong, but our impressions are that this is just engineering, no matter what the college happens to be! As far as differences, our student also spent two summers at Vandy during his soph and jr years in HS. And, while he is a legacy at Vandy and liked the campus, he was not convinced enough to even apply! Notre Dame far outweighed Vandy in many respects (Rank, academics, international rep, alum base, etc.) Yes, the winters are NOT fun. But, I think that in the end, when evaluating the two schools, our student thought that Notre Dame was a better choice all around. He is happy with his choice, but studying a LOT! But, it is engineering, after all!!
