NEC viola faculty

Hello everyone (and viola/string enthusiasts!),

I'm interested in finding out more about NEC viola faculty members. I won't be able to take any sample lessons until this summer and will probably be auditioning for schools next year.

I'd like to narrow it down to two/three professors (to take lessons with and to eventually write down for my application). Technically, I'm a pretty strong player and am looking for a great studio and an inspiring, supportive, yet demanding teacher. I love hands-on teachers but I'm not sure if I absolutely need one at this point in my life.

Any personal experiences? Hearsay? Have you taken lessons with any of them? How are the studios like? Is there a specific emphasis to the studios (orchestral, chamber, modern music, etc.)?

Feel free to PM me if you prefer.

Thank you so much!

Liana

You might reconsider using your first name in posts here and select a user name that is a little less identifiable- anonymity can be a good thing when you’re auditioning and since the music world is so small, it can only be a good thing.
Are you considering any other schools? I can suggest two teachers, but they’re not at NEC…
Remember, finding teachers during the summer can be very difficult since they are away at summer programs- unless you’re going to give it a try while there?!
