hi

I'm in need of one major score improvement for Critical Reading. I managed to improve my writing section from 55 on PSAT to 700 on SAT but critical reading kills me. I improved from 460 to 560 but I'm having major problem to go over "600." Any good tip?

This worked for me I guess....

I used to read like really casually. I wasn't really absorbing the text, and that went for the questions as well. Some of the passages can get really boring and hard to comprehend, but if you really just try to understand it and the questions, you should do better. Try reading it aloud (well I guess slightly whisper it to yourself in a testing enviroment).I know it sounds really basic and dumb but it worked for me. I had a 550 in CR and I improved it to 620 just by doing that.

Another thing I did. I looked through the questions and whenever a question asked "In lines blah blah" I put the number of the question next to the line that said it said to in the questions. Then I began the passage and when I came across a line where a question was marked, I read that part more intently. Try it. It might not work for you, but it improved my score.

mcgraw-hill's conquering the new sat critical reading is a very good book with explanations in a clear and concise manner to every single problem . Great practice and content.
