Need Advice: Changing Majors and Minors

Hello! I am currently a Chemical Engineering major, but strongly considering switching to being an Industrial and Systems Major with a minor in something.

I simply need advice to help me make my decisions, or reinforce the decisions I'm thinking about. I want to leave college with an engineering degree that will provide me with the ability to earn a high paying job, or the ability to attend a top engineering school. And I want the experience and knowledge to be able to be a leader in the workplace through both my actions and words. My dream, like most, is to be self-employed with a sturdy company to my name. If this doesn't workout, however, I don't want to be limited to working in a certain field by my degree.

My questions for you guys are as follows: What do you guys think about the Chemical/Industrial and Systems Engineering fields? How will each aid me in my life goals? If I do switch to ISE, what sort of minor should I look into? Also, any other advice is much appreciated! I'm open to pretty much anything so if you have something to share unrelated to my questions, feel free to tell me!

Thank you, guys!

It doesn’t matter. Any engineering degree can get your foot in the door to gain “the experience and knowledge to be able to be a leader in the workplace through both my actions and words.” (What a load of fluff!) Your personality/people skills will get you out of the lab and into the boardroom. I recommend two things 1) an MBA and 2) if you don’t want to be locked into one industry don’t stay in one industry too long. Other than that you have to follow your passions. Imagine yourself at 30 or 40, It is 11 pm and your wife (or in my case husband) is waiting for you to come to bed. You say 15 more minutes. Then at 2 am you look up and realize it has been 3 hours. What were you working on? That is what you should go into.
