Hi everyone, this is my first post in this forum.
I am a junior but I still have no idea what to prepare for college(eg: college application, essay). I fretted for I do not know what to look into and what to work on in order to apply for colleges. I want to go to Harvard for medical school and as up to now, I do not write any essay yet. The idea about writing essay for college is still unclear to me. What should I write about? Where to get the essay topics from the colleges? How to apply for the college and scholarship.
Please help me because I am totally clueless about everything right now.

Forget about Harvard med school, you’re a jr in HS, first things first.

Talk to your HS guidance counselor.

Use the Search function for ‘books’ and read some to find out about how college admissions works.

Take the time to read some of the sticky threads at the tops of forums, they give good basic information. When you start a thread it’s generally more effective to have specific questions in mind.

Here’s a good website for you to start reading, it is designed for students like you just getting started:

You can borrow a good college guide from your library. Ask the librarian if you don’t know how to use the online catalog.

Isn’t Harvard Med like post graduate? A little early.

I wrote my final college essay this Sunday and submitted it on Monday. There is planning involved, but the essay is so short there’s really nothing you can spend two years on for a one page extended paragraph.

The New York Times publishes a month-by-month checklist for Juniors and Seniors. This is a very clear and manageable way to learn what you’ll need to accomplish over the next year. Looking through the checklists will give you a nice overview. Follow BeanTown Girls advice and use the Big Future website and a college guide or two from your school or local library. You’ll feel a lot more comfortable about the whole process!
