Hi, i'm currently a freshman majoring in Actuarial Science at UIUC. Because I know that getting a MS in Actuarial Science is not necessary, so will it be hard to major something totally different in grad school (i.e MS in finance/accountancy/econ)?

Can you guys give me your list of top grad schools in MSF, MSA, and MSE?

Also, can you guys give me some advices of how to start building up my profile as a freshman so that I could be a stronger applicant when applying to some top grad schools. Thanks.

Well, what would you like to do?

If you want to be an actuary, I’d be preparing for the SOA/CAS exams and interning.

If you want to have a broader business focus, I guess you could prep for GMAT/GRE, take other business courses, get an internship, and enjoy being an undergrad.

I want to be an Actuary, but also want to pursue a master degree in either acct/econ/finance just in case if I couldnt pass all the actuarial exams and I can still find another job with a different degree.

Why don’t you pursue a degree outside of actuarial science and take the exams anyway?

And do your own research on top grad schools. It’s not like this question hasn’t been raised before.
